When doing a rowing tour of the river Barrow, you must go through the many lock gates. This is such a fun experience as you must balance the rowing boat in the lock with the oars pulled in. Two boats can fit at a time.

You stay sitting in the boat as the water is let out and go down as the lock empties of water to become level with the river. Many locks have a huge drop! When the lock gates open - away you go again!
